Norway’s Liquids Output Rebounds by Nearly 100,000 Bpd—but Still Trails 2025

For the past five years, he… Norway’s liquids production rebounded nearly 100,000 bpd in August to 2.073 million bpd, reversing much of July’s weakness.
Norway’s crude oil production rose to 1.882 million barrels per day in August, exceeding the Norwegian Offshore Directorate’s forecast but remaining below the level recorded during the same month last year, preliminary figures released on Tuesday showed.

Total liquids production, including crude oil, natural gas liquids and condensate, averaged 2.073 million barrels per day.
That was an increase of 97,000 barrels per day, or about 4.9%, from the 1.976 million barrels per day produced in July.
Despite the monthly recovery and stronger-than-forecast production, total liquids output was 4% lower than in August 2025.
The figures therefore point to a rebound from July’s weakness rather than a return to year-on-year growth.
Crude oil production increased by 98,000 barrels per day, or 5.5%, from 1.784 million barrels per dayin July.It also exceeded the Directorate’s August forecast of 1.803 million barrels per day by 79,000 barrels per day, or 4.4%.
However, crude output was still 74,000 barrels per day, or 3.8%, lower than the 1.956 million barrels per day produced in August 2025.
The improvement suggests that part of July’s production decline was temporary.
Norwegian offshore output can vary considerably because of planned maintenance and operational stoppages across individual fields.
Natural gas provided a less positive surprise.
