Electric Supercars Are Getting Faster, Smarter, and Harder to Ignore

However, there has long been a stigma surrounding high-end EVs and electric supercars, with most consumers sticking to the ICE versions.

Now, several well-known automakers are offering hybrid and electric versions of their sports or high-end cars with impressive range and speeds, which are catching the eyes of a growing number of consumers.
Automakers have significantly improved EV technology in recent years to offer faster speeds and longer ranges.
Extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs) are similar to plug-in hybrids, but they offer longer battery range and more powerful electric motors.
The engine and generator fire up less often, only to produce electricity, and, as there isn't a traditional transmission in most, the wheels are driven wholly by an electric motor.
In addition, the engine is highly efficient, boosting reliability and reducing maintenance needs.
One example of an EREV is the BMW avantgarde i3 EV, which was released with a range-extender option, although its range and capabilities remained limited in this early version.
This is gradually improving as automakers seek to appeal to a wider range of consumers looking for a replacement for high-end ICE vehicles, particularly as fuel prices rise above electricity prices.
Ford, Jeep, Ram, and Volkswagen’s Scout brand have all announced new EREV models, suggesting that more impressive trucks will hit the U.S.
This is important to drivers who cover more miles and are therefore more concerned about range than in markets across Europe and Asia.
